Lavender spinel, sterling silver and 22k gold statement ring, US size 8

This one of kind spinel and sterling silver ring was handmade by me in my studio. This project started with a blob of recycled sterling silver. It had a lovely teardrop shape and looked like it would make a cool setting. Finding the right stone was easy: the beautiful, lavender coloured, irregularly cut spinel perfectly complements the soft sheen of the metal. The stone was set in a hand fabricated 22k gold bezel to add some warmth and richness to the colour scheme. I chose a wide and quite substantial sterling silver band to anchor the design. The edges are softly rounded to match the curved shape of the "silver blob setting". The surface of the ring is softly textured and polished to a brushed sheen. The result is a substantial yet feminine piece of jewellery, as most of my items it is one of a kind, when it is gone it is gone :-)
