Sterling silver dangly microorganism earrings,

These unique earrings were inspired by the word of microorganisms and handcrafted by me in my studio. This little series is based on the doodle sketch you can see at the end of the photo section: this loose interpretations of shapes and elements found in the microscopic world of bacteria, protozoa and algae was recreated in sterling silver. When starting the project I hadn't decided what kind of jewellery these little forms should be, while working on them it became clear that they should be earrings: slightly asymmetrical sisters not twins, each with a decidedly organic feel, with richly textured layers and an ornamental look. They are fastened with earwires, were oxidised to accentuate the texture and are stamped with my makers mark. I think they are fabulous (but as an infectious disease doctor I might be slightly biased :-) ).
